appoint【用法】
vt. to choose someone for a position or a job 任命；委任；委派
(1) appoint sb as … 任命某人为…… be appointed as… 被任命为……
The government appointed Mike as headmaster of the school.
David was appointed as mayor of the city.
(2) appoint sb. to … 派某人到……
We must appoint a new teacher at once to the mountain school.
(3) appoint sb. to do sth. 派某人去做某事
The boss has appointed a secretary to meet you at the airport.
(4) appoint (time )for… 为……约定时间
It is still unknown to appoint a date for meeting.
