新闻英语：“社区矫正”怎么说
2011年03月01日 中国日报网-英语点津全国人大常委会近日表决通过的《刑法修正案(八)》规定依法实行社区矫正，这一概念首次被写入刑法。

社区矫正近日被载入《刑法修正案(八)》，成为惩罚罪犯的一种方式，并将于5月1日起开始实施。
上述报道中的community correction就是“社区矫正”，是一种不使罪犯与社会隔离并利用社区资源教育改造罪犯的方法，是non-jail punishment(非监禁刑)的一种。较常见非监禁刑的包括reprieve(缓刑)、release on parole(假释)、community service(社区服务)、halfway house/recovery house(为长期监禁人员开设的重返社会训练所)等。
社区矫正适用的罪犯有以下几种：criminals who commit light offenses(罪行轻微的)、在狱中表现良好的、以及在特定条件下 executing sentences out of jail(监外服刑)的罪犯等。
