In 1939, during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), Li Yu-bang from Taiwan established the Taiwan volunteer corps in Jinhua, Zhejiang province. It became the largest, longest-lasting and most influential one composed of Taiwan compatriots during the war.
