It might seem like the term “Material Girl” belongs solely to pop diva Madonna, who has been living large under the nickname since 1985. But, according to a clothing company called L.A. Triumph, Inc, Madonna doesn't own the rights to the “Material Girl” trademark.

TMZ reports that the company has filed a lawsuit alleging that they have been marketing “Material Girl” clothing since 1997. They take issue with Madonna's new line of juniors clothing for Macy's, arguing that the pop singer's use of the term has created consumer.
今年,娜姐与女儿合作的少女时装系列在月初于梅西百货登陆,灵感很多来自于天后在八十年代的经典性感叛逆女造型,其中也融入不少女儿Lola的穿衣哲学与想法,她们将这一系列命名为“物质女孩”,希望有更多的年轻女孩勇于表达个人的想法。不过也有媒体批评服装设计过于暴露,并不适合少女穿着。

L.A. Triumph, Inc. is asking for Madonna and company to hand over all money made on the clothing line. Madonna's rep has yet to comment.
