　　For the last few months, Barack Obama has been licking his wounds as his policies have taken a beating. But the president was hurting for real today after getting twelve stitches in his lip when he was accidentally roughed up during a game of basketball。
　　几个月来，美国总统奥巴马因自己倡导的政策遭批驳，一直处于“很受伤”的境地。然而，这次总统奥巴马是“真的受伤了”，据悉，奥巴马在26日在打篮球时受伤，白宫方面说，医生在他的嘴唇上缝了12针。
　　He was hit in the mouth with an elbow during an early morning pick-up game in Washington. Mr Obama was playing hoops with family and friends at the Fort McNair army base in Washington when the accident happened.It was a five-on-five game and included the president’s personal assistant Reggie Love, who played basketball at university. The identity of the player with the errant elbow was not disclosed。
　　Mr Obama stemmed the flow of blood with what looked like a wad of gauze。

　　He emerged from the gymnasium after about 90 minutes dabbing at his mouth and was rushed back to the doctor’s office on the ground floor of the White House to get stitches under local anaesthetic.The president’s press secretary Robert Gibbs confirmed Mr Obama was injured while playing basketball。
　　经过90分钟的医学处理，奥巴马用纱布捂着下巴返回白宫接受治疗，在被麻醉的状态下缝了12针。据悉，白宫发言人吉布兹(Robert Gibbs)向公众承认了“总统篮球遇袭”事件。
　　He said the medical unit that treated the president used a smaller filament than is usual which increases the number of stitches but makes a tighter stitch and results in a smaller scar。
　　白宫发言人吉布兹还说，医生用了比平常缝合手术更细的线，这样可以减小在脸部留下伤疤，但同时这也意味着缝的针数更多一些。
