英73岁老人“愚公护崖” 搬石块重百吨(图)

　　According to the Daily Mail on February 8, the former mechanical engineer Michael Kennedy, 73, spent the past 14 years building his own sea wall at Hunstanton in Norfolk, UK, piling up rocks picked from the sandy beach to slow the erosion of chalk cliffs。
　　73岁的原机械工程师迈克尔 肯尼迪为保护在英国诺福克郡亨斯坦顿小镇附近的白色悬崖避免因海水侵蚀后退，14年以来，他一直从海滩捡拾石块放置在悬崖下，堆建了一座海岸"保护墙"。

　　In that time, he reckons to have toiled for nearly 9,000 hours and moved hundreds of thousands of stones weighing more than 200 tons in total。
　　这些年来，他一共花费了将近9000个小时，搬运了几十万快石块，石块累积重量达200多吨。
　　"It's a real labor of love because I come down here whatever the weather, in spring, summer, autumn and winter," said Kennedy, "It keeps me fit and I love it."
　　肯尼迪说：“我非常喜爱这一运动，春夏秋冬，风雨无阻。这让我保持体重，我爱它”。
　　Kennedy moved to the area after retiring from the London Underground. Nicknamed Fred Flintstone by locals, he tries to move at least 40lb(about 18.14kg)of rocks from the beach to the foot of the cliffs in two-hour sessions which he finishes by 2pm six day a week。
　　肯尼迪退休后搬到亨斯坦顿，退休前是伦敦地铁一名机械工程师。当地人昵称他“弗莱德 福林斯特”，每周他会抽出六天，在下午两点前花上两个小时，从海滩拾捡搬运重达40磅(约18.14千克)的石头到崖下。
　　He also picks up rubbish and prides himself on having created a spotless, stone-free sandy beach for holidaymakers to enjoy。
　　肯尼迪也会在沙滩拾捡垃圾，并以创造一个干净、无石头的沙滩而自豪，让游客能够尽情享受。
　　Hunstanton is famous for its red-and-white striped cliffs. The lower layer of limestone, known as red chalk, was formed between 146million and 100million years ago. This supports a white chalk layer created between 100million and 65million years ago。
　　亨斯坦顿有著名的红白条纹悬崖。悬崖底部是石灰石层，呈赭红色，形成于1亿4千6百万年和1亿年之间，崖顶上层是灰白色的较薄岩层，形成于1亿年和6千5百万年之间。
　　Records show that the cliffs have retreated around 100ft (about 30 meters) in little over a century。
