The 2025 Xinjiang International Agricultural Machinery Expo, held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, concluded on May 27, Xinhua News Agency reported. The three-day event attracted over 800 enterprises from home and abroad. More than 11,000 different types of agricultural machinery equipment, including tractors and cotton-picking machines, were exhibited. According to Li Kang, who leads the China division of CNH Industrial, a global agricultural machinery leader, the company achieved sales revenue of 2.3 billion yuan ($319 million) in 2024, 25 percent of which came from the Xinjiang market. "Xinjiang is one of our important markets. With a high level of land intensification and the vast area, Xinjiang possesses an advantage in the adoption of large agricultural machinery equipment," Li said. "Xinjiang clients have placed orders for 25 units of equipment, with a total value of around 24 million yuan," he added. "Xinjiang's agricultural machinery market is shifting from growth in quantity to enhancement in quality. This is why our company values this market," said Hao Qinghua, head of a South Korean agricultural equipment company. As of 2024, Xinjiang has achieved a comprehensive mechanization rate of 90.28 percent in crop production, while the overall mechanization level for agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery has reached 74.62 percent. Additionally, the machine-harvesting rate remains consistently above 90 percent.
